At the end of February, the Nordic Michelin Guide was announced, with two Nordic restaurants (Maaemo in Oslo and Geranium in Copenhagen) achieving three stars. Nordic restaurants are once again at the very for front of developments in the fine dining space.

At the same time Nordic inspired cook books from the likes of Signe Johanson and Magnus Nilsson are driving more Scandinavian food in the casual dining market, and 'hygge' (a Danish term for comforting is becoming a real lifestyle buzzword.

Nordic Dining

One of the reasons this cuisine has become so popular is the ethos behind Nordic dining. The most in-season ingredients are used to create exciting dishes which are both pleasing to the eye and taste delicious.

Locally sourced,
fresh, seasonal produce

At Norse we replicate this ethos with our menu, offering a select range of eight savoury dishes and three deserts. Alternatively, we offer a 7 course tasting menu, which includes five savoury and two sweet smaller dishes to capture the best from the season and our menu.

Our team at Norse use locally sourced, fresh, seasonal produce to create these constantly evolving dishes along with the use of different techniques to get the very best out of the ingredients.

Sometimes this can mean traditional methods such as pickling and curing, but often using a range of equipment for more modern techniques such as freeze-drying or dehydrating to intensify flavours and create different textures.

Drinks are also an important part of any fine dining experience. At Norse we offer a taste of our homemade snaps where we use both savoury and sweet elements to give unique flavours. Our barkeep also creates a seasonal cocktail list, often with homemade infusions. We have an ever-growing selection of gins from regional distilleries such as Whittaker's Gin in North Yorkshire, or sometimes from Scandinavia and mainland Europe. We select less common wines and our beers are from craft breweries so that you can experience something a little bit different to a normal drinks list.

Delicious food and drink
matched with quality service

Service is also important in Nordic dining and to us at Norse. We create a laid back atmosphere with a combination of friendly, knowledgeable staff and relaxing, modern music. We are located down the road from Harrogate theatre, which is perfect for a pre or post theatre dinner.

We also neighbour The Champagne Concept which is a great way kick off a lovely evening in Harrogate. With the new addition of the 36 bus running from Harrogate to Leeds into the early hours of the morning, you can enjoy a whole evening dining and drinking in our charming spa town.

At Norse we offer delicious food and drink, matched with quality service which we hope gives a taste of the kind of experience you get when visiting one of the critically acclaimed Nordic restaurants.
